Nick & Jenny Maternity Photo Session 28 December 2009

These are a preview from Nick and Jenny's maternity photo session. This was a fun shoot for me. I love shooting couples who aren't afraid to get out there and have some fun with their photo shoot. They were given this session as a Christmas gift and were very good sports about fitting it into their vacation schedule! I hope you enjoy how they came out.

Aloha to everyone. I hope your christmas was a bright shining moment in your life as it was in mine. I had a wonderful time with my friends and my Hawaiian family. The Hawaiian Letter Project Begins

I was commissioned by a lady who wanted me to create a Christmas gift for her in-laws. She had seen something similar to this in a catalog but wanted to see a Hawaiian version. This was the result of my first attempt. The As are more difficult than you would think. I shot a ton of versions of all the letters of the alphabet so if anyone is interested, just let me know! Taj & Nya's First Birthday Party 17 October 2009

These are preview photos from the first birthday party of twins Nya & Taj. They are adorable kids who handled being the center of attention and all the fun activities very well. Nya was much more dainty with her cake while Taj tore it up full force.

A Walk With Olapalani

I went for a walk on Lanikai beach with my friend and the dog she was babysitting-Olapalani. What a great dog. She just clearly enjoys life. I loved this photo of her and wanted to share it.

Welcome Home Addiction!

Addiction and its crew made it home safe and sound from TransPac 2009. These were taken the night of their welcome home bash which was outstanding!

Oahu At Night

Inspired by the full moon, I decided to try to photograph the moonrise off Makapu'u lighthouse. The cloud cover made that difficult and so I decided to do some night photographs of Makapu'u beach, the cities visible beyond that (Waimanalo, Kailua, Kaneohe MCBH) and the Mokes (as seen above). Then I wanted to try some photographs of Honolulu at night from a park with a perch in Kaimuki. These were the results:

And They're Off!

My good friends Lindsey Austin, Donna Austin, Richard Blackburn, Chase Hartzell and Mike Rush are racing in this year's TransPac on the J35 yacht "Addiction". They left today from Long Beach, CA homeward bound for Hawaii. I have been obsessively checking their position on the TransPac race tracking website. It updates itself every hour. R.I.P. Michael Jackson

As many of you may know, I was a huge Michael Jackson fan. He was, what I like to phrase as eccentric in his personal life, I will admit. But, in his public life, he was a musical genius. His music was the only thing that could get me out of my seat and up on the dance floor on the cruise ship...every time. I absolutely love to watch him dance. He was a fashion icon and the inspiration for many other singers. The master of the moonwalk: he was unique, he was "the King of Pop," and I will miss him.

Summertime Water Fun

What better way to cool off in the summer sun than with a little water fun?! After Remi's Babycakes photo shoot, we all took to the outdoor sunshine while the kids played in the pool and in the sprinklers. Babies + Water= Instant Fun!

Remi "Babycakes"

This is a preview from Remi's "Babycakes" session. It was done on her actual 1st birthday which makes it extra special. Remi had the cutest frosting mustache through almost the entire photo shoot and was not afraid of getting down and dirty with her giant cupcake! She had sprinkles between her toes, frosting in her hair, and strawberry cake bits stuck to her body.

Lalea and the Blue Dress

Jennifer's Great-Grandmother made this blue dress for her mother when she was little. Her mother wore the dress, Jennifer wore the dress and now Lalea makes her debut in the blue dress!

Lalea "Babycakes"

So a valuable lesson was learned on this shoot. While Lalea was extremely adorable and photogenic to boot, you should never assume things you don't know for sure. Lalea did not like cake. She wouldn't get near it and absolutely hated the icing being withing 6 inches of her body. I don't blame her, the homemade cake was pretty scary. Nonetheless, I think the photos from her shoot were still priceless and a true show of her personality and I had a great time.
