Love on the Lake For Dr. and Mrs. Davis 22 Sept 2018

I really enjoyed this wedding, she says surprised that she enjoyed a wedding. Laid back and comfortable with delicious food, an absolutely gorgeous and picturesque reception venue and THE BEST musical talent. Everything seemed very unique to this couple. There were pontoon boats to bring guests in from the lakeside as well as the bridal party. There was plenty of cold drinks to enjoy during the ceremony and tons of smiles all around from absolutely everyone in attendance. Even the neighbor's dog was making the rounds wearing a rhinestone bow collar soliciting free belly rubs. I know this couple from my day job and it was fun to get out in the country to help them commemorate their wedding and see them interact together. Lawn games, fire pits, and delectable bite sized desserts topped off the evening. The bride and groom had to be reminded several times to hold the kisses til the end of the ceremony which just shows how in love they are. The cakes were made by a former colleague and current friend and really matched the feel of this couple and of this day. A great match, a great wedding and what I think are some great photos. Enjoy!

Larson Clown Mafia 15 Sept 2018

The Larsons have done it again and produced one of the most fun and visually interesting photo shoots for me. I say this every year but I really do love that they are not afraid to try new things. It brings out their personality for sure despite the embarrassment of being the best dressed people at the fair. This might have been our most expensive shoot between admission, food "props" and carnival games. With the carnival theme, clown noses were a must to finish off the evening and they wear them well. Probably my favorite part was waiting for the ride to be in full swing behind them with the lights on and the family in their clown nose regalia. Leif has just shot up like a weed in this last year and is becoming a handsome young man. None of the family had ever thrown darts before so that was interesting. Jonah may have murdered a stuffed animal with a dart to the heart but we can't prove it. Cotton candy was also a first for the kids and sadly it wasn't even good cotton candy which makes me sad for them. We pushed this shoot due to massive amounts of rain this year and took our chances with the last official county fair of the year and the weather held nicely if not a bit on the hot and humid side. The carnival folk were unbelievably sweet and I'm grateful to them for helping me push this shoot just a little more with their colorful booths! Love you guys and beware of the man who dumps perfectly good popcorn on your head, he is trouble.

Elder Family Rocks Riverside 15 Sept 2018

Another year, another set of Elder family photos! Miss Natalie is getting to that age I really enjoy, full of pure joy and no filter. She is talking now and I just love that. She thought it was absolutely HILARIOUS when she held up 5 fingers and I told her she wasn't 5. She seems to be enamored with boats while big brother Noah has discovered the joy of fishing. Noah is all features...big eyes, big smile, big personality and in a compact little body. Momma Erin said it just gets more hectic as the kids get older but I really think it just gets more fun. Riverside Park was beautiful and abnormally quiet which was nice. Really enjoyed seeing the Elders again this year. One of my faves since Noah was born. The traditional awkward family photo caps off the end of this post. :) Hope to see you again next year for another update. Enjoy!

K + A = Baby Ames! 2 Sept 2018

This Ames baby was so perfect and squishy it was striking. From the photos I've chosen to show in the preview it looks like she just snoozed her way through the whole session but in truth she was awake most of the time, making her little diva demands, with her fists flying and her manipulative little lower lip quivering. Babies passing gas are always welcome in newborn photo shoots because it brings forth laughs from the adults and smiles from the baby and miss Ames didn't disappoint. Her smile was infectious and her big eyes absolutely loved looking out the window at the world. She can be pensive or funny, sweet or sassy, and little miss Ames brought them all to her first photo shoot.

This shoot was a little bit different than what I normally do for newborn babies. A little more staged and heavy on props but I really love that the props were personal things from this families own history and their own home. The wedding dress, the military fatigues, great grandpa's cowboy hat, a vintage suitcase and mom's pearls all made the cut of props we used. It was fun to sort of put my own spin on these things and I'm pretty happy with the way they came out. Kris (papa Ames) was super helpful setting up little photo stations around the room while mama Alicia served up the milk and kept our model happy. Thanks for inviting me to your home, so glad I finally got to see it and meet the whole family and I can't wait to see how miss Ames grows! Enjoy.
