Minnehaha = Megalovin 23 October 2016

This was my first time heading up to Minnehaha Falls for a photo shoot and there are a couple of WOW moments I have to share. First of all the colors and the variety of locations in this park make it seem like a photographer designed the whole thing from the ground up. So many great textures between the leaves and the vines and the benches and the little buildings and the naturally occurring mosses. Second, as would be expected of such an amazing spot, it was unbelievably busy. I think I counted at least 13 other photos shoots going on at the same time so for Dan and Adrienne to look like they were the only 2 people in the world is a testament to their love. Speed, who I must say is aptly named, was such a riot too. He played an integral part in the proposal and he is all about the love. There were complete strangers who wanted to take photos with Speed purely because he is handsome (and really can you blame them)! This couple loves to play around and it's clear that their little family just works. I'm so happy you guys invited me up into your world. I hope you enjoy the preview photos knowing there are lots more to come and I'm excited to learn more about you. Enjoy.

Elder Family Twilight Zone 16 October 2016

So most likely I would have photographed the new Elder baby just after she was born but that weekend happened to fall on my annual trek to Indianapolis which made seeing this familiar family as a foursome like being in the Twilight Zone! I didn't see Mom when she was pregnant and she looks exactly the same as she did before getting knocked up again so for me, this was instant. Little Natalie doesn't have a ton of personality just yet, she's thoughtful I suspect, just checking things out. Her big brother Noah though has always been one of my most favorite kids to photograph and this year tops them all. Apparently Noah, last year, had a raging fever that we didn't realize until later and boy what a difference health makes. This year, from the get go, when I suggested that Noah had stolen the baby's shoe he thought I was the funniest person alive and I likewise thought that of him so it was giggles all around. He is such a great big brother...very gentle and loving. It's a pleasure photographing the Elder family but this year was especially great! I can't wait to see how baby Natalie evolves. Thanks again and enjoy.

The Happy Hoys 9 October 2016

I've known this family and this baby since before either of those things existed! This weekend I got to do update photos with them now that Miss Maddie is walking and even doing a little bit of talking. She says hi and oops and moo and babababa (that's what sheep sound like). Her cuteness just kills me. The curls in the back, the two tiny teeth up front, and probably most of all her pure joy when sliding down a jumbo pumpkin. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. Thanks Hoy family for meeting up again at the insanely busy Ferguson's. OH, I also put the newest photo in my growing collection of "awkward family photos" at the bottom of the post just for laughs. Enjoy!

PACEY Wedding 7 Oct 2016...aka The Kramers!

This Star Wars/Star Trek wedding was out-of-this-world, pun intended. I don't think I could have possibly had a better time at a wedding so I can only imagine how much fun everyone else had! It was all about the little touches that made this day themed...the Bride's bouquet in a light saber hilt, the pips indicating a rank of Lt Commander on the Groom's collar, the Imperial March music, the custom-made wooden toppers on the spacey cake, and of course the Tribbles being held off by a Bride and Groom team who came fully equipped to kick butt. Set in Hillsboro, Oregon, the bohemian venue was tranquil and woodsy. It sits in the middle of a bustling roadway complete with an octagonal barn, tall pines, weeping willows, lights on strings and mossy hideaways that make you feel transported to another planet. Time flew right by starting with snapping photos of the ladies getting ready at the salon through the whole night of dancing, dancing, and more dancing. There was Hula dancing, swing dancing, slow dancing, jumping, singing, toasts, kids waiting for cake, and TONS of love. I really can't say enough about how perfect this couple is together. Paul is absolutely the mirror of Kacey and I'm so glad they found each other. Cheers to a happy life! Enjoy...
